Delivers a more manageable SharePoint

Bypass overhead

SharePoint Online delivers the powerful features of SharePoint without the associated overhead of managing the infrastructure on your own.

Retain control

Flexible management options ensure that you still retain the control you need to meet the compliance requirements of your organization.

Choose from multiple plans

You can purchase SharePoint in the cloud as a standalone offering or as part of an Office 365 suite, where you can also get access to Exchange, OneDrive for Business, Skype for Business, the Office clients, and web apps.

Access and seamlessly collaborate with SharePoint anywhere

Use the app

You need to stay productive wherever life takes you and now you can with the new SharePoint app. It’s like having your company’s intranet in your pocket giving you anywhere access to your team and organizational resources needed to get work done.

Collaborate with the hub

Today’s SharePoint team site is your team’s content hub. It’s where everyone you work with both inside and outside your organization comes together in real time to get work done – creating and sharing content using the same, familiar Microsoft Office tools you use every day.

Make your organization intelligent and secure

Use Office Graph

The intelligence provided by Office Graph makes SharePoint completely unlike anything else out there. With the new SharePoint home, you can stay current with all the different teams and projects you’re working on via activity feeds and recommendations based on your associations with others and the content they’re working on.

Comply with security

SharePoint offers best-in-class security, with more than a decade of experience building enterprise software and online services. End users get the productivity they’ve been asking for while the IT department gets the cloud security and compliance requirements they require.

SharePoint Online (Plan 1) includes:

External sharing

Use SharePoint Online sites to share content with people outside your organization who do not have licenses for your organization’s Microsoft Office 365 subscription. When a site is shared in SharePoint Online, an email message is sent to the external user containing the invitation to join the site. Invitations can be sent to people with any type of email address, such as user@gmail.com, user@contoso.com, or user@Comcast.net. External users sign into the shared site via a one-time association of their email address with a Microsoft account.

Content organizer

The Content Organizer acts as a gatekeeper for documents. You can automatically manage some important library tasks, such as managing folder sizes and routing documents to different libraries or folders. This not only saves time but can help make sure that a document library is managed consistently.

Team sites

Add project functionality to your team site to help plan and track a project. This functionality includes a task list with a visual timeline, a calendar, and the Project Summary web part.

SharePoint 2013 workflow

SharePoint 2013 workflows are powered by Windows Workflow Foundation 4 (WF), which was significantly redesigned from earlier versions. Perhaps the most prominent feature of the new workflow infrastructure is the introduction of Azure as the new workflow execution host.

SharePoint Online (Plan 1) includes many search features to help you find the information that you need to do your jobs. Search is a combination of relevance, refinement, and people. Features in the plan include Continous crawls, to help keep search results fresh by frequently crawling content in SharePoint sites, Deep links, Event-based relevancy, Expertise search, Graphical refiners, Hybrid search, and more!

Access services

Build web databases and publish them to a SharePoint site. SharePoint visitors can use your database application in a web browser by using SharePoint permissions to determine who can see what. And you can start with a template so that you can start collaborating immediately.

SharePoint Online is now reorganized into three distinct hubs: Newsfeed, OneDrive, and Sites.

These hubs are available in a global navigation bar, and thus the social features associated with My Sites are fully integrated into the SharePoint experience. You no longer need to specifically visit your My Site in a web browser to access social features.

Collaborate with external users

You can now invite people outside of your company, such as vendors, trusted business partners and customers to view, share and work with content on your sites.

Use the brand new Community site

SharePoint Online expands the discussion board concept by introducing Community Sites, which are site collections built using the brand new Community Site template. Community Sites encourage information sharing across teams and groups within an organization. They promote open communication by making it easy for users to both share their interests and expertise and learn from others with knowledge or experience in specific areas.

Manage documents with the new callout feature

Use the new callout feature with any document in a library to see a set of rich commands and contextual information. Open, share, or follow documents; view a document preview and other information; take action right away from the callout.
